Tour de 2025: The Most Realistic Cycling Sim Yet
Next Gen Graphics & Amp; Brutal Realism
This year’s Tour de game has had another level brought in by Unreal Engine 5. The roads, the crowds, even how sunlight streams through the trees, it looks insane. They scanned real-life places like Champs-Élysées, Mont Ventoux, and the infernal cobbles of Arenberg, so they make every stage feel real. Depending on the time of day, the lighting varies, and when you’re climbing under the midday sun, you can almost feel the heat.
I played a rainy stage in the Pyrenees, and the way the water splashes off tires and the riders get caked in mud? Chef’s kiss. Previous games felt arcade, Wanted; this one makes you strategize as an actual cyclist.
Race Your Friends (Or Crush Them)
The private race creator is my favorite addition. No more waiting with randoms who leave after the first climb. You select the stage, select the length, select the weather, and even select the time of day. Want a short, chaotic criterium at night? Or maybe a 200km mountain s pouring rain? It’s all there.
Pro tip: Set a custom race on only the hardest climbs and watch your friends suffer. Anytime in Criterium mode is good for a quick face off: choose two riders, design your jersey, and go shoulder to shoulder in a tight sprint. (I may or may not have done up my rival’s jersey in neon pink, with flaming skulls. No regrets.)
Fuel Management Matters Now
The refueling system is a game-changer for everything. At the start, you only have basic gels, no more mindlessly spamming boosts. But with the feed zone, you get Energel (steady energy) and Turbogel (short, insane bursts).
Turbogel is game-changing if you know when to use it. It opens up for just a few seconds of unlimited stamina to give a little push in the attack during those agonizingly steep climbs. I used it against my mate on the last climb of Alpe d’Huez, and the sweet glory to hear him scream in rage in the voice chat. You may also be interested in: Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Free

If you are into cycling games, this one has been the best present yet. AI has gotten smarter, physics are punishing, and graphics make you feel inside the peloton. Just be prepared for a counterbrick Bul 101 in its right difficulty; this isn’t one of those games where you win by button-mashing.
